SATURDAY WILL BE A VERY CHILLY DAY FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR… TEMPERATURES MODERATE ON SUNDAY AND ON MONDAY, MUCH WARMER AIR MOVES IN ALONG WITH SOME WET WEATHER… ANOTHER VERY COLD AIR MASS MOVES INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC STATES BY MID-WEEK

The Arctic air mass that has been making news this past week across the U.S. finally reached the East Coast on Friday. Although the air mass moderated somewhat, temperatures were much below normal for this time of year on Friday. The average high temperature for this time of the year is around 62 degrees and we should stay in the 40’s all day today (Saturday). However, winds will be diminishing as high pressure builds into our part of the country. Temperatures should be in the mid 50’s on Sunday. There’ll be a mix of clouds and sunshine this weekend. A frontal system is expected to bring rain/showers to our region Sunday night and Monday. The exact timing of the rain is not certain and neither is the forecasted amount of rain. I’ve heard one forecast of up to an inch of rain on Monday.  Then, another very chilly air mass is expected to plunge into the region by mid-week and possibly bring us the coldest temperatures of the season so far. Does this abnormally cold weather this early in the season mean a very cold winter lies ahead? Not necessarily. However, sometimes weather patterns get locked in for a while so we’ll see how things unfold. That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
