SUNDAY WILL BE WARM AND HUMID WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, SOME OF WHICH COULD BE SEVERE… A RATHER STRONG COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PUSH THROUGH THE REGION ON MONDAY… A BREAK IN THE HEAT AND HIGH HUMIDITY SEEMS LIKELY DURING THE MID-WEEK PERIOD

On Saturday, as warm and humid air surged back into the Mid-Atlantic States, showers and thunderstorms developed. Most of the activity was to our north. I was travelling up to Delaware and I drove through several areas of heavy rain. A thunderstorm did move through parts of Hampton Roads late on Saturday. Today (Sunday), we may have a few opportunities to see showers and thunderstorms as disturbances move through in the upper-atmosphere. Severe weather is possible, so please monitor the local media and NWS. The temperature forecast for today is rather difficult as it is highly dependent on cloud cover and precipitation. If the sun comes out for a long period, it will feel very uncomfortable with the humidity levels remaining very high. The potential for thunderstorms will stay with us through the overnight hours. A cold front will be approaching the area on Monday thus making for a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters are expecting cooler and drier air to make it into Hampton Roads on Tuesday making for much more pleasant conditions. The higher humidity levels are expected to return later in the week… The tropical Atlantic is quiet for now. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
