SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ON THURSDAY DUE TO AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT… IMPROVING WEATHER SEEMS LIKELY ON FRIDAY

A cold front approaching from the northwest is expected to produce showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. Rainfall is expected to be heavy in some localized areas. Although a severe thunderstorm cannot be totally ruled out, the overall potential for widespread severe weather is on the low side.  Please keep in mind that any thunderstorm can contain dangerous cloud to ground lightning and heavy rainfall, even if the storm is not classified as severe. The front is expected to slow down as it moves through our region. As usual for this time of year, the front is expected to wash out on Friday over the Carolinas. Friday should be a little cooler and less humid, but the higher humidity levels will be back by late in the weekend and early next week. Rain chances are expected to increase somewhat early next week…. As far as the tropics are concerned, a depression did develop in the Central North Atlantic but it since dissipated. In a few weeks, we will be moving into the Cape Verde season, which means that the chances of a long tracked tropical cyclone will increase. That’s it for now. Thanks for reading!
