A WEAK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST WILL BRING UNSETTLED WEATHER ON SATURDAY… SUNDAY LOOKS DRIER… MUCH COOLER WEATHER IS POSSIBLE LATER NEXT WEEK

Saturday has started on the wet side in my Virginia Beach neighborhood. As the headline states, a weak area of low pressure off the NC coast is causing the scattered showers. They are moving from southwest to northeast very quickly as winds in the upper atmosphere are quite strong. The chance of rain will be highest this morning and then it will drop off later this afternoon. Rain chances will be highest the further south and east you are. A cold front will move through tonight which will basically clear us out making Sunday much nicer. Temperatures should stay in the 60’s today with the cloud cover. There is some uncertainty in the week ahead as some models indicate a chance of rain during the mid-week period as moisture flowing in from the southwest may impact the area. I noticed that the NWS has kept the forecast dry for now but that could change. Colder weather seems likely later in the week as a chilly air mass is expected to move into the Mid-Atlantic Region… The tropical Atlantic is quiet for now.
