THE UNSETTLED WEATHER CONTINUES THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT…. THE MILD WEATHER CONTINUES THROUGH THURSDAY… TEMPERATURES DROP ON FRIDAY

The current satellite view shows a very long stream of moisture stretching from the Western Gulf of Mexico northeastward into the Mid-Atlantic States. We’ve had periods of rain since Sunday morning but temperatures have been quite mild for the middle of December. Fog has also been an issue in some parts of the area.  An area of rain will be moving offshore this morning and we should have a temporary break in the wet weather during the late morning and mid-day period. However, another round of rain is on the way later this afternoon and tonight. Then, we should clear out Tuesday morning. Temperatures should stay above normal through Thursday. A cold front will move through most likely Thursday night and it will be much colder on Friday. Some showers will probably accompany that front… We needed the rain as it has been quite dry since early November. Some parts of Virginia have been experiencing the first stages of a drought. We’ll see if this will be the beginning of a pattern change that will bring more precipitation to the area.
