A WARMING TREND IS ON THE WAY… THE WEEKEND WEATHER SHOULD BE PLEASANT… A COLD FRONT MAY BRING WET WEATHER LATE ON MONDAY

The weather map this Saturday morning shows a rather strong high pressure area over Eastern Pennsylvania. Temperatures over the Northeast are very chilly this morning.  The clockwise flow around the high will create an easterly wind here in Hampton Roads. The high should maintain control over our weather throughout the weekend, even as it slides offshore on Sunday. Winds will swing around to a more southerly direction on Sunday bringing up milder air. Overall the weekend weather looks great with no real issues…. I wanted to comment on the weather earlier this week. Nearly four (4) inches of rainfall fell last Sunday and Monday(Oct 7 -8). That was welcomed rainfall since we have been running a rainfall deficit for the year… A cold front will be marching across the center of the nation today and then into the Eastern states on Monday. Severe weather is possible with this system in some areas. This front will bring us a rather decent chance of showers and even thunderstorms late on Monday with cooler weather to follow behind the front… Tropical Storm Rafael has formed in the Eastern Caribbean and Patty has weakened to a depression. Rafael may head towards Bermuda. I will have an update on the tropics and our exented forecast on Sunday.
