CLOUDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES MAKE SUNDAY FEEL LIKE FALL… WAVES OF LOW PRESSURE RIDING ALONG A STALLED FRONT TO OUR SOUTH MAY BRING SOME WET WEATHER ON SUNDAY AND AGAIN ON MONDAY

Saturday’s high temperature was 84 degrees in Norfolk. Temperatures will be twenty degrees cooler on Sunday. The much advertised cold front that moved through our region overnight is expected to stall to our south. Meanwhile, waves of low pressure are expected to move eastward along the front. The first wave is expected to bring us a period of light rain today. An area of rain moved to our north earlier this morning but missed the South-side Hampton Roads for the most part. We have another chance of rain on Monday but I think there is a lot of uncertainty as to the timing of these periods of rain over the next two days. Even the amount of rain that is expected to fall is not certain at this time. I heard one forecast of around a half inch of rain but on the NWS site, the amount predicted is much less than that today. Either way, clouds will dominate our skies and it will be much cooler than it’s been. I’m hoping that we get some rain as we are running a rainfall deficit for the year now.  By Wednesday, high temperatures are expected to back in the 70’s. .. The tropical Atlantic is quiet and forecasters do not expect any tropical cyclones to develop that would impact the United States over the next few days.
