ENJOY THE COOL WEATHER WHILE IT LASTS… THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL BE BUILDING LATER THIS WEEK

The cool weather this weekend is great for sightseers or doing any type of work outdoors, but the folks who wanted to go in a pool, or to the beach, etc. are probably very disappointed. In my opinion, it is not warm enough to enjoy going in the water. And, with the rip current risk at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach very high, going in the ocean is not recommended on Sunday. The cause of this cool and breezy weather is a high pressure system up to our north combined with an offshore low pressure system. This has created a northeasterly flow which has been very persistent the past few days. It’s all about to change. By Monday, our winds will veer to a more southerly or southeasterly component. The high pressure system will gradually shift offshore and the clockwise wind around it will bring in warmer air along with an increase in humidity. By mid-week, many of us who have turned our air conditioners off will have put them back on. Then, the heat is expected to build even more as we head into Thursday and Friday. Along with the increase in heat and humidity will be an increased chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Thanks for reading and have a great day.
