NORTHEASTERLY WINDS CONTINUE TO BRING COOL AND PLEASANT CONDITIONS TO HAMPTON ROADS… HOW LONG WILL THIS GREAT WEATHER LAST?

It’s hard to believe that we are already in the middle of June and a cool breeze is blowing through my open windows, the skies are a deep blue with white puffy clouds moving by every once in a while. Normally, at this time of year, it’s warm and humid and my windows aren’t open as I usually have my air conditioner on. High pressure to our north combined with low pressure well out to sea are creating the northeast breeze that will eventually become easterly as we go through the weekend. The only problem this weekend relating to the weather will be for beachgoers and boaters in the bays and the ocean. The persistent onshore flow is creating rip currents and very choppy seas. Caution is advised for anyone going into the water this weekend.  The high pressure system will gradually shift offshore, but until it does, the pleasant weather will continue. Next week, we will see warmer temperatures and slowly increasing humidity. What about rain chances? Based on what I’m seeing, precipitation chances should remain on the low side most of this week. Once the humidity starts to increase, you cannot rule out a shower or thunderstorm in some localized areas. This is going to probably be the longest stretch of rain free weather that we have seen in quite a while. I’ll have an update Sunday morning. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
