THE STRETCH OF GREAT WEATHER IS ABOUT TO COME TO AN END… BUT SUNDAY WILL BE ANOTHER SUNNY AND WARM DAY… A PERIOD OF UNSETTLED WEATHER BEGINS ON TUESDAY WITH THE POTENTIAL OF HEAVY RAINFALL IN SOME AREAS

It appears that our stretch of fantastic weather is about to come to an end. High pressure which has been in control for several days will be moving offshore while a wet weather system slowly advances to the northeast from the Gulf Coast states. In addition, a slow moving cold front will be approaching from the west later in the week. It all will combine to create a period of unsettled weather here in Hampton Roads. It’s too soon to determine what areas will receive the heaviest rainfall, but the trend in the models seems to indicate that some parts of Virginia and North Carolina may receive some substantial rainfall during the mid-week period. This is the same system that brought record breaking rainfall to portions of the Gulf Coast States over the weekend. Monday is expected to be dry for the most part but the chances of rain will begin to increase Monday night. Stay tuned to the local media for updates on any potential flooding threats that may develop. In the extended forecast, the models differ as to how quickly the wet weather system moves away. Note that this system is expected to help alleviate the ongoing drought in Georgia.┬áSo, enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
