SPRING OF 2012 IS THE WARMEST EVER IN NORFOLK’S RECORDED HISTORY… SUNDAY’S WEATHER SHOULD BE IDEAL FOR STORM DAMAGE CLEANUP IN HAMPTON… TEMPERATURES SHOULD BE VERY PLEASANT MOST OF THIS WEEK

As the headline states, spring of 2012 is the warmest in recorded history here in Hampton Roads. I realize that spring is not quite over yet, but the NWS is referring to Meteorological Spring which ended May 31st. It began March 1st. A very warm March contributed to the record breaking spring. Speaking of temperatures, I don’t think they will be an issue this week as there is no real heat in the forecast this week. For many of us, we could probably turn off our air conditioners and leave them off all week. Some of you probably have already turned off your air conditioners as the heat and humidity of last week got swept out to sea with the cold front that caused the severe weather and heavy rainfall in spots. There were a few showers in some areas late on Saturday caused by the instability of a very cold upper atmosphere. Forecasters don’t expect much precipitation through Monday but with this type of weather pattern, a light shower/sprinkle cannot be ruled out. Low pressure off the Maine coast will be moving away but short waves are expected to be moving southeastward through the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states causing an occasional shower threat this week. High temperatures beginning Tuesday¬†will mostly be in the 70’s. Monday will probably be the warmest day of the week. That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
