THE WEEKEND WILL BE A CHILLY ONE FOR HAMPTON ROADS… TEMPERATURES MODERATE BY MID-WEEK… THE WEEK AHEAD SHOULD BE DRY FOR THE MOST PART

Temperatures this weekend will be on the cool side, especially on Sunday. It should be dry this weekend and it appears that the dry weather will continue through much of the upcoming week. Breezy conditions are expected on Saturday as the colder air moves into the region… This past week a frontal system brought around 4 tenths of an inch of rain to my neighborhood. That was on Wednesday when winds were quite gusty with the frontal passage. Some power outages were reported along with some tree damage. Another system moved through late Friday night and early Saturday bringing a period of light rain which brought about 2 tenths of an inch to my backyard. I’ll have an update on Sunday. Have a great day.

TEMPERATURES TREND HIGHER AS A FRONTAL SYSTEM SLOWLY MOVES EASTWARD… RAIN CHANCES GO UP BY MID-WEEK… MUCH COOLER WEATHER WILL FOLLOW THE FRONTAL PASSAGE LATER IN THE WEEK

With a high pressure centered off the New England coast and a very slow moving front crossing our nation’s mid-section, our winds will veer from an easterly direction on Sunday to a more southerly direction on Monday and Tuesday. This will bring even warmer air into the Hampton Roads region. While sunshine is expected on Sunday, clouds will slowly be increasing Monday and Tuesday as moisture streams north and east. Rain should hold off until later Tuesday or Wednesday. Most of the heavier rainfall will most likely occur to our north and west. A fairly strong cold front will approach later Wednesday which will make Thursday a much cooler day.

HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED TO OUR NORTH SHOULD BRING US A NICE WEEKEND FOR EARLY DECEMBER… A WARMING TREND IS EXPECTED WITH INCREASING RAIN CHANCES BY THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK

Hampton Roads will enjoy another great weekend as high pressure is in no hurry to leave. Temperatures will be cool on Saturday but a warming trend will begin on Sunday. This past week, we saw a low pressure system pass by to our north and west. About an inch of rain fell in my backyard which was more than what was predicted. Meteorological Winter has begun. This is a three month period that starts in early December and ends in late February. There really isn’t any bitterly cold air in the foreseeable future. So, enjoy the moderate temperatures while they last. By mid-week, a frontal system will be approaching and this should bring an increased chance of rain or showers. Cooler weather will follow the frontal passage later in the week. I’ll have an update Sunday morning.
