AFTER COMPUTER CRASH LAST WEEK, I’M BACK UP AND RUNNING… HURRICANE IRENE THREATENS THE SOUTHEAST COAST… THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY AS IT MAY AVOID THE ISLAND OF HISPANIOLA… MEANWHILE, OUR WEATHER LOOKS GREAT FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS

My computer crashed last week and then I had to go out of town over the weekend so that is why I did not post over the weekend. I’m back up and running now. The big news is Hurricane Irene, which is expected to move just north of the island of Hispaniola. Since the track is expected to take it north of this very mountainous island, the effects to the storm are expected to be less than expected. This combined with very warm water are expected to allow the storm to strengthen as it moves west-northwestward. Folks from Florida through the Carolinas need to pay close attention to this storm as it could become a major hurricane. High pressure to the north of the hurricane should keep on the same track for the next couple of days. However, a trough along the East Coast may act to pull the storm northward later in the week. Please monitor this storm over the next few days as the forecast track may change. Rain from this stormĀ is possible here in Hampton Roads sometime over the weekend.

Our weather here in Hampton Roads should be pleasant for the next couple of days with little or no chances of rain. Speaking of rain, some areas received heavy downpours yesterday (Sunday), but my neighborhood only received a tenth of an inch. Once a cold front moves through, our winds will switch to the north and will usher in less humid air. High temperatures will be cooler than they’ve been of late which should make it feel quite pleasant.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.
