SUNDAY IS A BIT UNSETTLED AND SLIGHTLY COOLER DUE TO THE CLOUDINESS… TEMPERATURES HEAT UP A BIT AS WE GO THROUGH THE MID-WEEK PERIOD… WILL WE SEE OUR NEXT TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOP THIS WEEK IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN?

On Saturday, I was at the beach and the conditions there were absolutely perfect. The ocean was warm, the waves were small, and there was a light breeze off the water. Sunshine was abundant so sunscreen and a beach umbrella were a necessity. Sunday features more clouds and there are some showers and storms out to our west and south. So far, no rain has fallen here in Va Beach. A weak disturbance moving through the region is causing the unsettled weather. The NWS has the chance of rain today at only 20%, which is down from what they were predicting yesterday. The system is weak but there is plenty of humidity which can result in very heavy rain in any storm that does pop up. The chance of rain lowers as we go through mid-week and high temperatures should rise into the lower 90’s with sunshine returning.

Forecasters are predicting that our next tropical cyclone will soon be born east of the Leeward Islands. The next named stormed will be Emily and she will have to be monitored closely this week. It’s too soon to speculate as to where she will go and how strong she will become.

That’s it for now. Have a great day and thank you for reading.
