HIGH PRESSURE GUARANTEES SUNNY SKIES ON SUNDAY… THE HIGH WILL SLOWLY MOVE OFF THE COAST ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY CAUSING OUR WINDS TO SWING AROUND TO THE SOUTHWEST… THIS WILL BRING BACK THE HEAT AND HIGHER HUMIDITY LEVELS

Sunday will be an ideal summer’s day with plentiful sunshine, light winds and just about no chance of rain here in Southeastern Virginia. Humidity levels by summer standards are tolerable. Don’t get used to this weather as it will be changing over the next few days. The high pressure area that is causing the nice weather will be slowly moving off the coast. As winds blow clockwise around high pressure areas in the northern hemisphere, our winds will swing around to the south and eventually southwest as the high moves east of our area. A southwest wind at this time of year usually brings in hot and humid conditions and that is what we will see by Tuesday. What about thunderstorms? Well, there will be a slight chance of storms on Tuesday and a better chance of storms on Wednesday as a cold front approaches the region.

I haven’t mentioned the tropics lately and that is because there really isn’t anything of concern in the Atlantic basin. That is normal for early to mid-July. Hurricane season normally ramps up by the middle of August. This is the time when you should have your plan in place and ensure that you have┬áthe needed basic supplies should a storm threaten this area.

That’s it for now. Have a great day and thanks for reading.
