AFTER A DAMP START, THE WEEKEND ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE FAIRLY NICE… TEMPERATURES WILL BE SEASONAL WITH LOWER HUMIDITY LEVELS… THINGS HEAT UP AGAIN AS WE HEAD TOWARDS TUESDAY

Over four (4) inches of rain has fallen in my Virginia Beach neighborhood since the 4th of July. It’s amazing what a stalled out frontal boundary and high humidity levels can do to help alleviate a drought. Some parts of the local area picked up higher rainfall amounts and some less fortunate areas picked up less, ┬ábut overall, this was the most widespread heavy rain that we’ve seen in a very long time.

A cold front has just moved through Hampton Roads and is dropping southward into North Carolina. Light northerly breezes behind the front will become easterly bringing in cooler air and lower humidity levels for the remainder of the weekend. The cloudy skies this morning should slowly give way to mostly sunny skies this afternoon. Sunday looks great with highs in the upper 80’s. As the high pressure area moves off the coast early in the work week, our winds will swing around to the south and southwest bringing back the warmth and humidity. We should be back in the 90’s on Tuesday. Another cold front should bring some relief by mid-week and may be preceded by some showers or thunderstorms.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.
