THE WEEKEND LOOKS PERFECT FOR MOST OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES… RAIN CHANCES REMAIN LOW THROUGH THE WEEKEND BUT WILL INCREASE BY TUESDAY AS HUMIDITY LEVELS RISE AND A FRONTAL SYSTEM APPROACHES

This will be a great weekend for folks going to the beach, sightseeing, or even doing yard work. It will be a bit on the warm side, but humidity levels will drop somewhat making it a little more comfortable. Sunshine¬†should be abundant throughout the weekend. Humidity levels begin to rise on Monday and as a result, there may be a shower/storm in the afternoon. On Tuesday, we may see a better chance of a shower/storm as a weak frontal system approaches the area. Speaking of storms, there was thunder and lightning last night in my neighborhood but I didn’t get any rain. It seemed fairly close, too. On Thursday, the area most impacted by the drought in Eastern N.C. received significant rain. Rain also fell where the wildfire is burning in Dare County. It wasn’t enough to fully douse the fire or end the drought but at least some rain fell in this very parched area. It will take a lot of rainfall to catch up and there really isn’t anything significant in sight at this time. We need a widespread soaking rain, not these isolated hit or miss storms that we’ve been seeing. As we head through the summer, the pattern is expected to change somewhat bringing some much needed moisture to the Southern Mid-Atlantic States. Let’s hope that this happens. I’ll have an update on Sunday.
