BRUTAL HEAT CONTINUES THROUGH TUESDAY BEFORE SOME RELIEF ARRIVES… THE FIRST TROPICAL STORM OF THE SEASON FOR THE ATLANTIC WEAKENS OVER THE YUCATAN PENINSULA

The unrelenting heat will continue through Tuesday as a very slow moving cold front inches its way towards Hampton Roads. Southwesterly winds are transporting the heat and humidity into our region. The front is expected to slow even more as it moves into our region later Tuesday. Depending on the weather pattern, this time of year can be very hard for cold fronts to move through our region. The Bermuda High off the coast can be very strong and with weak upper level winds, the fronts just don’t have the strength to move further south and east of the Carolina Coastal waters. The resorts at the beaches love this kind of pattern as this truly is great weather for swimming at our area’s beaches… The Atlantic Basin’s first tropical cyclone has developed and has rapidly weakened over the Yucatan Peninsula’s hilly terrain. When it emerges out of the water again, it may reintensify possibly to hurricance status. It’s eventual track is in question due to a complex weather pattern over the U.S.
