HEAT, HUMIDITY, AND ISOLATED/SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DOMINATE THE FORECAST ON SUNDAY… SOME RELIEF IS EXPECTED BY TUESDAY

An area of rain moved through Hampton Roads overnight bringing about three quarters of an inch of rain to my Virginia Beach neighborhood. This was much needed rain. Today (Sunday) feels very humid as the dew point is 74 at the time of this writing! There may be another round of rain/storms later today or tonight, but in a pattern like this, it is very difficult to predict who will get the rain and how much will fall. Although another disturbance will be moving through the area, a down sloping westerly breeze may inhibit storm development. However, it may not and we could see some isolated heavy rainfall later on this evening. Monday should be hot with less of a chance of showers/storms. On Tuesday the chance for storms goes back up as a frontal system tries to approach the area. All in all, it’s a very typical pattern for mid-June. Forecasters are predicting a break in the heat starting Tuesday and lasting through Thursday at least.
