AFTER A CLOUDY AND FOGGY START, SATURDAY IS EXPECTED TO TURN OUT QUITE NICE, BUT THERE WILL BE A LARGE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE ACROSS THE AREA

High pressure off the East Coast is producing a light onshore flow which has brought in low clouds and fog to Hampton Roads, especially in areas closest to the water.  Keep in mind that the water temperature is still very chilly, so a breeze off of the water can keep temperatures quite cool in coastal areas. In addition, the lower temperatures cause the water vapor in the air to condensate, which is why we have fog and low clouds in some areas this morning. The April sun is strong so forecasters are expecting clearing later in the morning. Sunshine is expected later today. Sometimes, these setups can be quite challenging for weather forecasters. We’ll see if their forecast verifies. There is expected to be a huge temperature contrast across the area, similar to Friday. Temperatures along the coast are expected to be in the 60’s and temperatures inland could go well into the 80’s! The wind direction determines everthing at this time of year. The wind direction is expected to be out of the South or Southeast for most of the day. On Sunday, a weakening front approaching from the west could cause a shower in some spots. Fair weather is expected to continue into early next week. I’ll have an update on Sunday.
