THE SNOWSTORM IS OVER BUT TEMPERATURES REMAIN VERY CHILLY… WE WARM UP A BIT TOWARDS MID-WEEK… THE PATTERN STAYS ACTIVE THIS COMING WEEK WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR TWO SYSTEMS TO AFFECT THE HAMPTON ROADS REGION

Well, the snow is over but since the temperatures will be below freezing for most of the day on Sunday, only the areas that are in the sun will melt.  Roads, especially the secondary roads, will be treacherous for the most part throughout the day on Sunday. We did pick up additional snowfall last night as an upper-level disturbance moved through the area. Temperatures will slowly moderate this week but there is another system that may affect the region by mid-week.  This will most likely bring just rain to Hampton Roads, but the models are all over the place with this next system so stay tuned. Then, another more potent system may impact the area next weekend.  The pattern is definitely an active one… Monday is the first day of February and if you look at the averages, temperatures begin to slowly rise throughout the month. However, February can be a very cold and stormy month. Of course, the days get longer with each passing day as we move through February.
