LOW PRESSURE MOVES AWAY ON MONDAY… WEATHER CONDITIONS SHOULD BE DECENT THROUGH MID-WEEK WITH TEMPERATURES RUNNING AT OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL… LATER IN THE WEEK, TEMPERATURES TREND DOWNWARD ALONG WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN

The storm system that moved through Hampton Roads on Sunday brought 1.20 inches of rainfall to my neighborhood. The rain that fell in the morning totalled 0.75 inches and then it rained again during the evening hours which totaled around a half inch. The afternoon turned out quite nice with the sun coming out and temperatures shooting up into the 60’s in some areas. That storm system is moving off the coast and it is intensifying. This is causing our winds to be quite gusty today. Temperatures will be seasonal (or slightly above seasonal norms)┬átoday and this should be the case through mid-week as high pressure buids back into the region. Later in the week, forecasters will be watching a storm system that may bring rain to our region Thursday night and Friday. Although it is expected to turn cooler later the week, forecasters don’t expect that we’ll have any frozen precipitation from this system. However, areas well to our north and west may have some snow or ice so stay tuned… The weather pattern seems to be returning to a more wetter pattern again as it was during this past autumn. El Nino is most likely playing a role and it is likely that we’ll see this continue for the remander of the winter season. Note that the west coast is about to get bombarded with several storm systems that may produce flooding, mudslides, and high winds. El Nino winters can be very storm on the west coast.
