THE COLD SPELL IS JUST ABOUT OVER… A STORM SYSTEM MAY BRING US SOME RAIN ON SUNDAY

This has been one of the most prolonged cold spells that Hampton Roads has seen in quite a while. Temperatures have been below normal nearly continually this past few weeks. Well, it appears that a change is about to take place. The weather pattern is about to change which will allow milder air to move into our region. Just a return to normal temperatures will feel like spring is here. Our normal high temperature is 49 degrees. Meanwhile, a low pressure system affecting the western part of the nation will move southeasward into the Gulf of Mexico where it will reform. This low will eventually pull out of the Gulf Coast states and move northeastward. The exact track is not certain at this time but the thinking is that we will see some rain beginning Saturday night or early Sunday. Will we see a return to the bitterly cold weather pattern anytime soon? I don’t think so. Arctic air will be building again in Northern Canada but I don’t think that this air will plunge into our part of the nation anytime soon.
