A WARM WEEKEND IS IN STORE FOR HAMPTON ROADS… WILL WINTER WEATHER MAKE A RETURN?

For those of us who are tired of the cold, the news is very good. Warm weather will rule through the weekend with very low chances of rain. A rather benign weather pattern is setting up across the Mid-Atlantic states and that should hold for several days. Southwesterly winds will transport mild air into the region causing temperatures to finally go above normal. Meteorological winter, which runs from Dec 5th to Mar 5th, has now ended which means that we are now moving up in the temperature department. Average temperatures are now on the rise and will peak in late July. Now, we still could have some chilly weather before it’s all over but at least we know that the coldest months are behind us. March can bring wild swings in the weather as the jet stream is usually very active and sometimes dives far to the south. The clashes of the air masses sometimes result in huge swings in temperatures along with stormy weather. Of course, March is famous for wind and this is due to the strong pressure systems that move across the country coupled with an ever increasing sun angle. I’ll have a full post on Saturday morning.
